Isabelle and Simon Hore-Thorburn explore lockdown dating in a new radio play

By now, it’s obvious that coronavirus lockdown has had a far-reaching impact on the way we interact with each other – and nowhere is this more obvious than in the world of dating.

In a new radio play, Berlin-based writer and radio presenter Isabelle Hore-Thorburn, and her brother, Simon, a nurse based in London, dive into the realities of seeking connection and intimacy across a socially acceptable distance.

The siblings’ first foray into radio drama, “Hotline Fling” imagines a new dating platform that allows members to use voice notes to woo potential flings. As these conversations progress, we witness the struggle to articulate one’s true essence as participants inadvertently reveal aspects of their personalities they would rather not divulge. The exercise becomes an examination of our true motivations and our own shortcomings.
