‘Love Locked Down’
By Emily Cramer
The texts dwindle.
The likes dry up.
This girl of independence,
Still needs basic male attendance.
Wilting slightly in my room.
Let’s just try this lipstick.
Slipping on a little number,
Checking it still fits.
Thumbs hover over lovers past
You know you shouldn’t go there
Luckily, temptation never lasts.
And so we plan.
We’ll use this time.
To truly think,
Of who we’ll climb.
Let’s write our manifestos!
Our future man will be:
One of humour,
Passion,
And integrity!
And we will stand for:
Time well spent
Never arguments
Before bed!
Reading, listening, we’re resigned.
Maybe there’s truth when Love is Blind.
Zoom will do, no bars or good merlot,
Dressed up top, but nothing down below.
Wartime couples since gone platinum,
But our plans have shifted for this annum.
